"In the Mix" Singing
Group was launched in March 2012 by Surrey based professional swing singer
Sheila Daniels. She wanted to share her love of some of the best and most popular songs written during the 20th Century, with a particular focus on the period between the 1920s and 1970s, covering the genres of jazz, swing, Rat Pack, rock & roll, Hollywood and West End musicals, big bands and pop. This is a group for people
to come together and sing together without the need to learn parts or harmonies; we sit and sing from lyrics projected onto a large screen.

Sheila also tells the group a few interesting facts and trivia about each number which
will often open up a dialogue within the group where members will briefly share
their own memories and knowledge about
the song, some fascinating discoveries have been made!

We don't work towards a public
performance (although we are occasionally asked to take part in local events - but this
is not compulsory), however, during the
summer and at Christmas we throw a big party for members and their family and friends where we give those wishing to perform the opportunity to sing a number backed by a trio of pro jazz musicians.
These parties have such a wonderful atmosphere.

Come along to one of our weekly sessions and join a happy and welcoming group of music lovers.
